Version: Virtual-Call Cloud PBX 25.1 · Released: August 18, 2026
Overview
Version 25.1 of the Virtual-Call Cloud PBX introduces new AI Receptionist capabilities, additional trunk settings, and a range of improvements and fixes across extensions, ring groups/queues, integrations, and reports. This article summarizes the key changes.
Prerequisites
- Administrator access to the Virtual-Call Cloud PBX admin portal
- Version 25.1 must already be deployed on your system (the update is rolled out automatically; a notice appears in the admin portal)
New Features
AI Receptionist: MCP Server support
You can now connect external MCP servers (Model Context Protocol) to the Virtual-Call Cloud PBX. This gives the AI Receptionist bundled access to external tools, services, and data sources through a single connection — for example, to check order status or book appointments during a call.

AI Receptionist: new skills
- Send SMS: The AI Receptionist can automatically send an SMS to the caller during a call, for example with order confirmations, verification codes, or appointment details.
- MCP Server: The AI Receptionist can access assigned MCP servers during the call to retrieve information or perform actions in external systems.
In addition, skill management has been improved: skills can now be sorted by default order or enabled status, making it easier to locate a specific skill. Call Detail Records (CDR) for AI Receptionist calls now log every MCP tool call, including the server name, tool name, execution status, and request/response data.
AI Call Transcription: global rules
You can now configure global automatic transcription rules by call type (internal, outbound, inbound). For extensions with transcription enabled, calls are automatically transcribed whenever they match the configured scenario. A new feature code also lets users start or pause call transcription directly from their phone during a call.
Improvements
Extensions & Organization
- When exporting extension and organization data, you can now select a specific export scope instead of exporting all data.
- Changes to a BLF (Busy Lamp Field) function key on an extension now take effect immediately on the associated IP phone.
SIP Trunk
Two new advanced options are available for visible trunk settings:
- Enable RTP Keep-alive: Automatically sends an RTP Comfort Noise frame during periods of inactivity, keeping firewall ports open for RTP traffic.
- Use Registered Target IP for SIP Requests: After successful registration, sends subsequent SIP requests directly to the IP address used during registration instead of resolving the domain again. This prevents call failures if the DNS record changes after registration.
Note: These settings apply only to the visible configuration of your assigned trunk. Creating, deleting, or changing a trunk's SIP registration remains the responsibility of Virtual-Call support.
Ring Groups & Queues
- New global option Allow Members to Forward Incoming Calls to Voicemail: Ring group members or queue agents with extension voicemail enabled can now forward incoming ring group/queue calls directly to their own voicemail from the incoming call window.
- Fixed a ring strategy issue where other members would stop ringing as expected if one member had call forwarding configured on their IP phone.
Other improvements
- Message channels: Live Chat channels now offer a standalone URL in addition to the embed code, which can be accessed directly or embedded elsewhere (e.g., in emails).
- Auto Provisioning: A new option lets you set an emergency outbound caller ID for Hot Desking phones, sent to the emergency response center for location information.
- Microsoft Entra ID integration: Contact synchronization has been optimized for better performance with large contact volumes.
Bug fixes
- Call quality: Fixed poor audio quality on calls routed through trunks using the G.722 codec.
- AI Receptionist: Fixed an issue where the dashboard showed higher AI usage capacity than actual usage in the AI Receptionist call activity report.
- Voicemail-to-email: Fixed an issue where the transcribed text was missing from voicemail-to-email messages even though the audio attachment was present. Also fixed an issue where emails showed the trunk's DID name instead of the caller's actual name.
- Contacts (LDAP): Fixed an issue where, after enabling contact sync with LDAP integration, an unmatched incoming number stopped the system from checking local contacts, causing caller names to not display.
- Call flow: Fixed an issue where editing the text-to-speech prompt in a copied call flow also changed the prompt in the original call flow.
- Voice prompts: Fixed an issue where uploading an MP3 file as a holiday prompt showed "None" in the Prompt field instead of the converted WAV file.
- CRM integration: Fixed an issue where, for integration templates using Bearer Token authentication, the access token could be retrieved but not refreshed.
- Zendesk integration: Fixed an issue where call pop-ups and automatic ticket creation stopped working for a contact after it was merged with an existing Zendesk contact. Also fixed an issue where recordings of transcribed calls were synced to the Zendesk ticket twice.
- Call Detail Records (CDR): Fixed an issue where historical CDR records were lost after an update.
- Call reports: Fixed an issue where the Queue Performance report showed fewer queue calls than actually recorded. Also fixed an issue where scheduled reports in PDF format were not emailed.
API changes
- New interface to query the time zone list, including feature codes for business hours/holidays and daylight saving time settings.
- New parameters for advanced trunk settings (RTP keep-alive, registered target IP).
- New parameters for time-condition-based routing on inbound routes and ring groups.
- New response parameter for the Live Chat channel URL.
- New parameters for AI Receptionist call tool details (MCP tool name, execution status, result).
Best Practices
- After updating, review your BLF function key configuration on IP phones, since changes now take effect immediately.
- For trunks on unstable NAT/firewall connections, enable RTP Keep-alive to help prevent dropped connections.
- If you use the Zendesk integration, check any previously merged contacts to confirm call pop-ups are working correctly.
