Overview
In Spain, telecommunications are regulated by the CNMC (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia). Virtual-Call plans to offer Spanish phone numbers in the near future. This article describes the regulatory framework.

Regulatory Authority
The CNMC is Spain's national markets and competition commission. It regulates the telecommunications sector, manages the numbering plan, and oversees compliance with legal requirements.
Planned Number Types
| Number Type | Status | Note |

Expected Requirements
The following requirements are expected for Spanish phone numbers:
- NIF/CIF number — The Spanish tax identification number for companies (Número de Identificación Fiscal) or foreign identification number (NIE).
- Proof of Spanish address — Business address in Spain or an authorized local representative.
- Commercial register extract — Proof of company registration in Spain (Registro Mercantil).
Spain generally requires a clear connection to the selected area code region. Companies must demonstrate that they operate in the corresponding geographic area.
Porting
Number porting is legally established in Spain and works efficiently. Typical processing time is a few business days. Details on the porting process through Virtual-Call will be announced at market launch.
Note: Porting of mobile numbers is not offered by Virtual-Call.
Special Notes
- Spanish phone numbers use the country code +34. Since the numbering plan reform, all numbers are dialed with nine digits (including area code).
- The emergency number in Spain is 112. VoIP services may have limitations for emergency calls — ensure alternative access is available.
- Spain has strict consumer protection regulations for telecommunications services. Callers must be properly identified (caller ID obligation).
