Overview
The Linkus Desktop Client lets you send and receive faxes directly from your computer, without a physical fax machine. Use this when you need to exchange official documents, contracts, or forms with partners who still rely on fax communication.
Prerequisites
- A fax-enabled extension must be assigned to your account by your administrator.
- The Linkus Desktop Client must be installed and you must be logged in.
Step-by-Step Configuration
Sending a fax
- Open the Linkus Desktop Client and go to the Fax module.
- Click New Fax.
- Enter the recipient's fax number.
- Attach the document you want to send (PDF, DOC, or image files are supported).
- Optionally, add a cover page and fill in sender/recipient details.
- Click Send.
Receiving a fax
- Incoming faxes appear automatically in the Fax module under Inbox.
- Click a fax entry to preview it.
- Use Download to save the fax as a PDF or Forward to send it by email.
Examples
Example: A sales team receives a signed contract by fax from a customer, downloads it as a PDF, and stores it in the shared drive — all without leaving the desk.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
- Symptom: Fax fails to send.
Cause: Unsupported file format or file size too large.
Solution: Convert the document to PDF and ensure it is under the size limit configured by your administrator. - Symptom: No cover page option is available.
Cause: Cover page templates have not been configured for your extension.
Solution: Contact your administrator to enable cover page templates.
Best Practices
- Always use a cover page for external faxes to ensure proper routing on the recipient's side.
- Archive important faxes immediately after receiving them, as retention periods may be limited.
