The Advanced tab contains the VoIP settings for an extension. Here you configure the DTMF mode, transport protocol, and optional features such as T.38 fax support and SRTP encryption.
Access the Advanced Tab
- Log in to the Cloud PBX administration portal.
- Navigate to Extension and Trunk > Extension.
- Click the edit icon next to the desired extension.
- Select the Advanced tab.
VoIP Settings
Configure the basic VoIP parameters for this extension:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| DTMF Mode | Determines how DTMF tones (key presses during a call) are transmitted. Default: RFC4733 (RFC2833). Only change this setting if your endpoint or provider requires a different method. |
| Transport | The transport protocol used for SIP signaling: UDP, TCP, or TLS. Default: UDP. |
| Qualify | When enabled, the PBX periodically sends SIP OPTIONS packets to the endpoint to check its availability. Recommended: keep enabled. |
| T.38 Support | Enables the T.38 fax protocol for this extension. Only enable this option if the extension is used for sending or receiving faxes over IP and the endpoint supports T.38. |
| SRTP | Enables encryption of the media stream (audio) using SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol). When enabled, voice traffic between the PBX and the endpoint is encrypted. The endpoint must also support SRTP. |
Important Notes
- DTMF Mode: The default setting RFC4733 (RFC2833) is compatible with most SIP endpoints. Only change the mode if you experience issues with key tone recognition (e.g., with IVR menus or DTMF-based authentication).
- Transport: Use TLS for encrypted SIP signaling. Note that TLS only protects signaling—for full encryption, also enable SRTP.
- SRTP: Only enable SRTP if all involved endpoints support it. Enabling SRTP without a compatible endpoint may result in one-way audio or connection issues.
- T.38: For faxing over IP, T.38 is preferable to conventional audio fax (G.711 passthrough) as it is more error-tolerant. Ensure that the trunk also supports T.38.
