Function Keys
The Function Keys tab allows you to configure the programmable keys for an extension. Function keys can be assigned various functions such as BLF (Busy Lamp Field), speed dial, line key, or call forwarding. The keys configured here are automatically transferred to the assigned IP phone and the UC Client.
Access the Function Keys Tab
- Log in to the Cloud PBX administration portal.
- Navigate to Extension and Trunk > Extension.
- Click the edit icon next to the desired extension.
- Select the Function Keys tab.
Key List
The key list displays all configured function keys for this extension:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Function Key | The key number (Key 1, Key 2, …). The numbering corresponds to the order of keys on the IP phone. |
| Type | The function assigned to the key. Available types include BLF (Busy Lamp Field), Speed Dial, Line Key, Intercom, DTMF, Prefix, and more. Null means the key is unassigned. |
| Value | The value associated with the selected type (e.g., an extension number for BLF or a phone number for speed dial). |
| Label | An optional text displayed on the IP phone's screen next to the key. |
| Operations | Delete the icon to remove the key assignment. |
| Sort | Drag the icon to change the order of the keys. |
Click + Add at the bottom of the list to add another function key.
Apply Function Keys Template
Use the Apply Function Keys Template button to apply a previously created template to this extension. This is particularly useful when multiple extensions need the same key configuration:
The dialog shows all available templates with their name, last modified date, remark, and actions. Select a template and click Apply to transfer the key configuration to the extension.
Use the Add button in the dialog to create a new template directly:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name * | The name of the template. |
| Remark | Optional description of the template. |
| Key List | The key configuration of the template is configured like the regular key list (Type, Value, Label). |
Important Notes
- Automatic transfer: Changes to function keys are automatically transferred to the assigned IP phone (auto provisioning). Some phone models may require a reboot for the changes to take effect.
- BLF keys: BLF (Busy Lamp Field) keys display the busy status of another extension. This is particularly useful for reception and secretary workstations.
- Templates: Templates are ideal for standardized workstation setup. Create a template with the desired key configuration and apply it to all relevant extensions.
- Template overwrite: Applying a template overwrites the existing key configuration of the extension. Make sure no individual customizations are lost.
- Number of keys: The maximum number of function keys depends on the phone model. Keys exceeding the physical keys of the phone can potentially be used via expansion modules or virtual keys in the UC Client.
